You have a plan manager, but how do your claims actually get paid? From receiving a support to the provider getting paid, there are several steps in the process.
Once you receive a service or make a purchase, your provider creates an invoice and sends this to P2P. We collect your invoice and review the details to make sure that it includes all of the necessary information and follows the NDIS rules.
Once the invoice is checked, we enter it into our system and submit the claim to the NDIA. The NDIA then processes the claim and usually sends the payment to P2P within about two business days. Once the payment is received, P2P then pays your provider.
Many participants don’t realise that plan managers also complete compliance checks. This is an important part of the plan management process to protect your plan from fraud or non-compliant claims.
A plan manager checks that:
- The support is NDIS related
- The price is within the NDIS price limits and follows the claiming rules
- The information on the invoice is correct
- The support is included within the participant’s plan and budget
Sometimes this means that there is a delay while we clarify the details. For example, if your invoice is missing information, or does not meet the NDIS rules or is not in line with your plan, we may need to contact the provider or participant to have the invoice corrected before it can be submitted.
To help avoid delays, it is important that invoices include all the required information.
It is essential that your provider submits the following information on your claim:
- the participant’s full name and NDIS number
- the business name and active ABN
- bank account details
- a unique invoice number
- support dates and description
- hourly rates, quantity of support and the total amount due
Participants also play an important role in protecting their NDIS plan and ensuring the claims are accurate. You can choose to approve your claims before they are submitted to the NDIA through P2P’s software Planability. Regularly reviewing your monthly statement and invoices is also a great way to keep track of your budget and make sure the invoices match the services you received.
Participants and nominees always have the right to ask questions if something does not seem correct. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or speak with your plan manager if you need help understanding a claim.
